Jeff, a fifth-generation Montanan, grew up in Great Falls. He attended Yale University then the University of Wisconsin Law School where he worked with the Wisconsin Innocence Project to remedy wrongful convictions. Jeff returned to Montana in 2013 and has been with the Goetz firm ever since.
Jeff maintains a diverse trial and appellate practice. He has represented plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of civil matters involving fraud, breach of contract, tortious interference, intra-corporate disputes, land use and access issues, insurance coverage and bad faith, consumer protection and unfair trade practices, personal injury and wrongful death, qui tam whistleblower claims, and public records disputes and constitutional claims. He has also been deputized as a Special Attorney General to investigate and prosecute campaign finance violations on behalf of the Montana Commissioner of Political Practices.
Jeff is licensed to practice in Montana and Wisconsin and has also been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Montana and Wisconsin State Bar Associations, and the Montana Trial Lawyers Association. Jeff has served on the board of directors of the Gallatin County Bar Association since 2019.
He has been recognized as a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” each year since 2020.
Outside of work, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife Karolina and their two children.
